About Jennifer

Growing up on the Sunshine Coast, I’ve been drawing, painting and designing my world for a lot longer than I’ve been photographing it. It was during my studies in the Visual Arts program at the University of Victoria that I stumbled across photography. It was a total accident–but it was the perfect sublimation of my analytical and creative sides, and the hours I spent in the darkroom found me content to problem-solve through the means of chemistry and light. I switched majors and graduated with a BFA in Photography and Curation in 2005, giving me a strong background in the business of art.

I assisted my first wedding in 2003, and I’ve shot more than 60 weddings solo in Powell River, along the Sunshine Coast, Vancouver Island and the lower mainland since starting my business, Kennedy Photografik, in 2007.

While I like to think that I can wax poetic on life, I can’t. I’m totally normal; run-of-the-mill. I now live in the small town that I grew up in, married my best friend and love being behind a camera. After my four years at the University of Victoria studying architectural photography and decided that I was much better interacting with people. After all, who else is going to laugh at my stupid jokes?

Being a wedding photographer is so unreal – I spend my days with people that are beautiful, happy, fabulously in love and sharing one of the most important days with their family and friends, and lil’ ol’ me. I couldn’t ask for more.

Enjoy your stay, I implore you to leave a comment or two.

(I must give a huge shout-out to my photographer-friend, Jennifer Williams, for the above photo!  She can make anyone look good…)
