There is nothing more beautiful than a wedding. A big, beautiful, blue-skied wedding. Carla and Brian married on the most gorgeous July day surrounded with family and friends and had little-ol'-me tag along to document their ceremony and take some portraits after they said their "I dos". They are both just the kindest, quiet, peaceful-hearted people I think I've ever met, and were just delightful to photograph. Carla was all smiles, all the time... I mean, how could she not be? And lucky me. New ceremony venue? Check! New portrait location? Check! It was a brilliant day. The ceremony was at the Evangel Pentacostal Church. Check out the gorgeous light. Our first stop for family and bridal party portraits was at Lindsay Park. The lush greenery accented the beautiful wedding colours and provided this lovely park backdrop. Next stop? The beach at Grief Point (complete with Lighthouse)! The sky was a photographer's dream. Yup. And my favourite image from the day... when it's good, it's good. I pulled out all the stops and think that it's a keeper! A million thanks to Carla and Brian for trusting me with your images - I hope you love them as much as I do!
So, just a hop, skip, and short ferry ride away from Powell River is this magical place - the West Coast Wilderness Lodge in Egmont, BC.
The WCWL offers couples something magical - a destination wedding at home. They really do it all - from the accommodation, to the food, all nestled against the most spectacular backdrop of ocean. It's solitude, surrounded by family and friends. So intimate. So lovely. Lia and Ryann hired me without meeting me - like many photographers are hired for destination weddings. We spoke on the phone and immediately, I knew, they were awesome. Lia, a teacher (like myself), was the epitome of organized and had all these amazing ideas... including an "outdoor living room". Sign me up! So, marry they did on a beautiful, overcast day in the middle of July. It was simple, stunning, brimming with emotion and style. Here are a few of my favourites. A million congrats to the newlyweds! I swear, the West Coast Wilderness Lodge is one of my favourite places. Ever.
When I am invited to photograph a couples' union at the lodge, I know in my heart of hearts that this is the perfect couple for me. They have the same likes as I do, and I simply love the ability to showcase the west coast in all it's glory. It really is the perfect backdrop for a celebration. Robin and Lincoln were gracious, humble and fun - their families were an absolute riot and I was grinning all day, ear to ear. They were adventurous, and weren't afraid to venture around the lodge for some great images... and I think we succeeded. In a big, big way. Enjoy. |
